Our Senior School educates pupils from the age of 11 – 18. Throughout the school our pupils benefit from highly motivated and inspirational staff with classes small enough to provide the level of individual attention that we believe pupils deserve.
Our entry is non-selective but academic achievement is high with expert additional provision available for those identified with learning needs as well as an outstanding Gifted and Talented programme with seminars and workshops to challenge and encourage debate and learning among our most able pupils.
As pupils enter Year 7 and adapt to the different pace of Senior School life, they also enjoy a broad curriculum providing an opportunity to gain experience and learning in a wide spectrum of subjects before making their GCSE choices. As well as introductions to Design and Technology, Drama and Food & Nutrition, Year 7 pupils will also have weekly Rydal Penrhos Learner lessons on mindfulness, community, relationships, leadership, politics and business.
In the two year GCSE course, all pupils will follow the RPS core curriculum which delivers eight GCSEs with the possibility of the RPS extended curriculum delivering up to 11 GCSEs by taking the options of Additional Maths, English Literature, and Triple Award Science. Welsh first or second language can be studied.
