Appointment of Finance Officer
Reports to: Finance Manager
Pay Grade: SCP 18 – 23 (£27,344 - £30,151)
Salary £21,875.20 - £27,135.40 (pro-rated salary)
Hours of work: To be agreed, 0.8 – 0.9 FTE
Purpose of the Job Role (Job Statement)
Fitting into a small finance team the role will cover a variety of accountancy tasks to help with the day to day running of the accounts department.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Key duties will be varied and diverse, but will include:
Maintain and operate the schools’ financial systems (Xero, iSAMs, School buddy), for which training will be provided
Oversee bank reconciliations
Preparation and support for the school sales and purchase ledger
Preparation and collection of school fees including managing bad debt
Regular written/verbal communication with parents
Support with the month-end process including deferred income, accruals, and prepayments
Support with the budgeting process
Support with cashflow planning & management
Assistance with year-end account preparation
VAT returns including partial exemption calculations
Maintaining the fixed asset register
Indicative knowledge, skills, and experience
AAT/ACCA/CIMA part qualified or equivalent
Proven and successful background in all aspects of management accounting
Excellent knowledge of financial systems
IT literacy including Excel
Awareness of Company and Charity law (desirable)
Understanding of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

Strong organisational and time management skills
An excellent team player, with the ability to work autonomously
Professional, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience of accounts payable is desirable

To assist staff in the day-to-day implementation of the school Visitor Policy
To carry out designated school fire evacuation role and adhere to fire evacuation procedure in the event of a fire and during a fire drill
