Pastoral Care:
Rydal Penrhos focuses on the holistic development of each pupil, ensuring their emotional, social, and academic well-being through comprehensive pastoral care programmes. This includes qualified Mental Health First Aiders and ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants).
TootToot: This is an app, installed on our pupils’ iPads, where they are able to engage anonymously with our pastoral team to discuss any issues that may be worrying them.
Form Tutors: Form tutors provide a constant point of contact for pupils, who will interact with them daily in morning registration. This ensures that any change in the wellbeing of a pupil is swiftly identified, and a response quickly implemented if needed.
House System: An integral part of our school culture. Led by our Senior Pupils, every pupil is assigned to one of our four houses; Morgan, Osborn, Payne or Wesley. There will be various House challenges and competitions throughout the year.
Peer Mentor Programme: Year 7 pupils participate in our Peer Mentoring Programme, working with their Sixth Form Mentors. This is an important part of settling into school life as our youngest pupils are supported by those in the final years at Rydal Penrhos.
Pupil Voice: An integral part of school life, our pupils are encouraged to participate in various activities such as the Food Forum and School Council as we seek their opinion to constantly improve life at school.
