iPads: Each pupil is given an iPad when they join Rydal Penrhos and this will be used throughout their school career with various upgrades and replacements.
Each iPad has various apps and programmes available – from the likes of Word and OneNote, often used in class, to more specialist tools like Unifrog.
Pupils are not able to install any apps themselves such as social media websites.
The School uses Securly, a web filtering and online safety platform, to help ensure pupils can access the internet safely and appropriately while using school devices and systems. Our iPads are protected both in school and at home with alerts coming to our IT Manager of any unusual activity or use.
Mobile Phones: Pupils are not allowed to use mobile phones during the school day. As part of our “Switch Off to Switch On” campaign, pupils turn off their device at morning registration each day.
Misuse of smartphones will lead to them being confiscated and kept securely at reception until the end of the school day.
Should pupils need to contact their parent or carer, this is done via Reception only.
