Share your memories of sailing
Sailing has been part of Rydal Penrhos for over 60 years.
Over this time the School has seen many sailing successes and many sailors on the Olympic pathway.
Petrina Blomeley, Sailing Principal, says, 'We have had a succesful year delivering sailing and water-sports to our pupils through our outdoor curriculum programme, thriving Prep and Senior Sailing Clubs and holiday sessions. We have been able to certficate many of our new pupils with RYA Youth Sailing Introduction to Sailing and Stage 1 and continue progression through our RYA programmes with some of our more experienced sailors into Stage 3 and beyond.'
'One of our previous commodores Zac Blomeley, who left in 2019, is still sailing competitively. He won the SailGp Inspire Waszp GB competition this Summer and will travel out to Sardinia in a few days to compete in the Persico 69F Youth World's event. We have been fortunate to have him coaching our pupils this Autumn term.'
Petrina would like to invite you to tell your stories of your sailing experiences, at Rydal, Penrhos, or Rydal Penrhos. We hope to record more of the history of sailing at the School and to share memories and stories in the next newsletter.
From coasting on the clear blue waters off Abersoch to tramping back up to school in drizzly weather with sand in your wetsuit, we would love to read about your memories of the sport. •
