Appointment of Sports Coach

Job DescriptionPurpose of the Job Role (Job Statement)To support the Head of PE to deliver a high-quality sports programme for all pupils within the school, no matter their ability. Fostering the Schools ethos of leadership, courage, sportsmanship, and team spirit and leading by example.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesKey duties:

To support the aims and objectives of Rydal Penrhos and to comply with the Schools Health and safety policy.

Planning, preparing and delivering a series of sports sessions, within a timetabled lesson and through extra-curricular activity programme, for boys and girls aged 7 – 18

Leading training sessions or fixtures

Officiating during mid-week and weekend fixtures

Supporting pupils with aspirational pathways

Assist with the ongoing refinement of all sports programmes, in collaboration with the Head of PE and the rest of the team

Team selection and monitoring progression of players, recording and reporting on pupils

Embrace the use of our technological and sports analysis platforms

To support our ongoing aim of developing high quality coaching

Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact

Maintaining good order and discipline among the pupils and safeguarding their health and safety both when they are on the School premises and when they are engaged in authorised School activities elsewhere in your care

Participating in administrative and organisational tasks related to such duties as are described above including Staff and parents

Participating in meetings arranged for any of the purposes above

Upholding School rules and implementing behaviour policy when necessary.

Indicative knowledge, skills and experienceEssential qualities/requisites

A love of coaching sports

Level 2 Coaching qualification

A significant track record and experience of developing young players

Ambition to be part of a growing project

High professional and personal standards

Awareness of safeguarding and Child Protection issues and ideally, knowledge of Safeguarding principles and procedures

A desire to coach collaboratively as part of a team

Superb organisational skills, both written and verbal

Attend and contribute to staff inset training sessions when required

Desirable qualities/requisites

Previous experience of working in a School/Club environment

Knowledge of young people and Education

Availability to attend tours (both national and overseas)

A significant track record and experience of multisport coach delivery

Knowledge and understanding of current trends and techniques in coaching and playing multisports.

Experience working with players on aspirational pathways

First aid qualified

Refereeing qualification Level 1

Safeguarding:

To have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to follow the child protection procedures adopted by Rydal Penrhos School as outlined in the school’s Safeguarding Policy

To assist staff in the day to day implementation of the school Visitor Policy

To carry out designated school fire evacuation role and adhere to fire evacuation procedure in the event of a fire and during a fire drill

To adhere to the school Health and Safety Policy and procedure
