Edukid
Global citizenship partners announce 2024 Peru Trip
Rydal Penrhos is thrilled to announce a twelve-month partnership with Edukid, marking a significant step in the school's commitment to global citizenship and development.
Serving as a spiritual successor to the school's long-time engagement in Uganda, Rydal Penrhos' new partnership with Edukid not only offers our pupils an extraordinary opportunity to visit Peru in twelve months' time, but also provides them with a chance to contribute to an ongoing development project and make a positive impact on the world.
In a recent Tuesday morning Chapel, our Senior pupils had the privilege of hosting Chris Turner from Edukid, a remarkable charity that connects UK schools and teachers with educational projects worldwide.
The primary aim of Edukid is to eliminate the barriers to education faced by children in various parts of the world. Mr Turner's presentation introduced our pupils to the charity's noble work and unveiled an exciting plan for a residential trip to Peru in October half-term next year.
This upcoming trip is more than just a journey; it's an opportunity for our pupils to see the thriving capital city of Lima, explore the ancient and beautiful landscapes of South America, all the while making a meaningful contribution to the communities they encounter. It is an experience that promises to be both educational and personally enriching.
Over the next twelve months, the Rydal Penrhos community will unite to support Edukid's mission, with a particular focus on Peru. Our pupils will actively engage in fundraising efforts, both to support Edukid's work and to raise funds for their own trip. We will keep everyone updated on the progress of these fundraising events - please be sure to mark your calendars for our annual walkathon in July, which will be dedicated to supporting Edukid.
This partnership also aligns seamlessly with The Duke of Edinburgh Award programme, a popular initiative at our school. Not only will the trip help pupils to complete criteria of the Award, but in a broader sense the skills, experiences, and values gained through working with Edukid will equip our children and young people with new confidence and perspective.
We would like to thank Edukid, who we look forward to working with. For our pupils and families, we encourage you to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Pupils currently in Year 10 and above can register by Tuesday 7 November and be a part of this incredible journey. And for those pupils too young to travel to Peru currently, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in supporting Edukid's valuable work.
The countdown to Peru 2024 begins!
