Grease
Senior Drama production wows audiences
The Memorial Hall stage recently came alive with electrifying performances of the Senior Drama production, ‘Grease.'
Over two enchanting evenings in early December, audiences were transported from the contemporary setting of 2023 Rydal Penrhos School to the nostalgic era of 1959 Rydell High School.
Our all-star cast delivered a performance to remember, led by David Tate and Becca Casson taking on the pivotal roles of Danny and Sandy. Their charismatic portrayal added a layer of authenticity to these well-known and beloved characters, capturing the hearts of the audience.
The musical dimension of the production showcased the exceptional talents of Violet Roberts, Finlay Perry, and Safa Maqsood, who impressed with their fine singing skills in a series of soulful solo numbers. Head of School, Will Tavernor, brought humour to the stage as Vince Fontaine, stealing the show with his engaging performance.
Off the stage, the band, comprised of William Bertalot, Tristan Griffiths, Gregory Matthews, and William McLaughlin, filled the Memorial Hall with iconic tunes including 'Summer Nights,' 'Grease Lightning,' 'Hopelessly Devoted,' and 'You're The One That I Want.'
The success of any production relies not only on the visible performers but also on the dedicated behind-the-scenes team. Callum Thompson, Connor Bullick, and Ruby Lewis, who took responsibility for lighting and stage, played a crucial role in ensuring a slick and high-production-value performance.
The guidance and support of teachers and staff, including Miss Earle, Mr McGuinness, Mrs Northwood, Mrs Clarke-McLean, and Ms Bollan, were instrumental in allowing the pupils to express themselves fully.
Finally, thank you to the appreciative audiences who joined the spectacle on both evenings. The presence of parents, carers, and family members added a unique warmth to the occasion, something that makes moments like these truly special.
Undoubtedly, this term, 'Grease' was more than just a production; it was an immersive experience where the magic of the stage, coupled with the dedication of the school community, made it an unforgettable celebration of talent and teamwork. One thing is for sure; this year, ‘Grease’ is the word!
