Cricket returns and U9 netball team secure important victory
Netball
Inter-House Netball
In one of the final chapters of the netball season, Rydal Penrhos Prep players donned their house colours to contest the Inter-House netball competition.
Players from Snowdon, Brecon and Pembroke descended to the Senior Sports Hall to play some fast-paced and end-to-end games. It was a blur of red, green and yellow on court, with players demonstrating tremendous skill and spirit.
House identity and competition is an important part of school life that helps develop pupils' ability to play fairly and work together in a team towards a common goal.
Well done to all; particularly to our champions, Snowdon!
U9s ISA High Fives Tournament
On Friday 21 April 2023, the U9 (Year 4) netball team competed in the ISA High Fives netball tournament held at Alderley Edge School.
The team took a while to warm up but subsequently went on to win three games and draw one. There was a tense wait to find out the final result whilst other schools placed out their final matches in the group.
In the end, Rydal Penrhos were rewarded for their hard work and excellent play as it was announced that the school had won Gold in the Bowl competition!
Well done to the whole team and their coach Mrs Chamberlain. The netball season ended on a high and now rounders, cricket and athletics training has begun!
Cricket
The first cricket game of the term was a great opportunity for Rydal Penrhos' U16s to demonstrate their sporting prowess against St Mary's away.
Despite losing by 14, the game showcased the high level of cricket skills that Rydal Penrhos instils in its pupils. Credit goes to the team's captain James Gilman for his outstanding performance and leadership skills; his contribution was invaluable.
Rydal Penrhos is known for its excellent sporting education, where pupils are taught to play with sportsmanship and to never give up, no matter the circumstances. The U16s' valiant effort was a testament to this. We look forward to seeing the team's progress throughout the season.
