Sweeney Todd play coming to the Memorial Hall
Our facilities are just a small part of what Rydal Penrhos brings to the Colwyn Bay and Conwy county area. The school is now delighted to announce a major theatrical production will be coming to the school’s Donald Hughes Memorial Hall later this year.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street will take to the stage from October 25-28. It is being put on by Ballyhoo Theatre Company, a brand new venture for out-of-work or experience-seeking performers based in North Wales following a shortage of opportunities for artists after the COVID-19 pandemic.
A collection of professional performers, industry professionals and those early in their professional journeys have teamed together to stage what promises to be a mouth-watering production of the late Stephen Sondheim’s classic musical from 1979.
Highly popularised by the 2007 film starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, Ballyhoo are aiming to remind people what attending the theatre to see a show feels like after what seems like a distant memory before the pandemic.
We are looking forward to hosting what promises to be a spectacle not to miss. Tickets are priced at £17 and can be purchased online here.
