Exceptional role models for the senior school community
The importance of belonging to a house, the bond this creates, the memories you make and the fact it enables our pupils to make friends across year groups rather than just within them is an essential part of life at Rydal Penrhos.
If at times over our history the school has taken for granted the incredible community spirit and camaraderie the system creates, then the restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic that thankfully became a thing of the past certainly brought the importance of this pastoral system into focus more than ever.
This is especially true with regard to our youngest pupils, joining us for the first time. Feeling a sense of belonging straight away smooths their transition to a different way of learning and school life, turning a daunting prospect of making friends and adapting to unfamiliar surroundings into an enjoyable one.
Our senior House Captains for the 2022/23 academic year have embraced the roles and their newfound responsibilities exceptionally well over the Advent Term, throwing themselves into their respective duties and becoming strong role models for fellow house members for good measure.
Elsi Pyves (Osborn), Alex Starling (Wesley), Jacob Cousins (Payne) and Niall Richardson (Morgan) have thrived throughout their time at Rydal Penrhos, both academically and during their wide range of extra-curricular interests such as hockey, drama and rugby.
They will be tasked with working alongside pupils and staff members to organise and successfully contribute to a series of upcoming events, with occasions such as the inter-house competitions, the all-important festive singing challenge and Sports Day taking centre stage before they depart for university or the working world.
Not only this, but the quartet will also be on hand to offer pupils another support system in the weeks and months ahead. This improves their ability to lead and inspire which will stand them in good stead for later life.
