Can you help?
The last time he saw them was on the day he left school. Simon was waiting on the Westbound platform of Colwyn Bay train station and they were on the Eastbound platform and he has never been in touch with them since. We think they were in the same boarding house which may have been Hathaway.
Henry, we believe you are correct; this is what we have discovered about him too – your memory is very good.
“I was intrigued to read about Miss Clarke in the Newsletter and it immediately brought to mind my French teacher at Penrhos Senior School during the fifties who was named Isabelle Clarke. We were pretty terrified of her but at the same time very much admired her teaching! To the extent that when I went on to study science A Levels I was quite upset to have to stop French!
"At the time we learned that “our” Miss Clarke had worked in the Resistance in France during the war. Could this be the same person??? I think she imbued a love of the language because after studying medicine and having a family I started all over again with an advanced French course in my sixties! She was an amazing person and highly valued at the school.”
Her mum hasn't heard from Elspeth for several years and has been unable to reach her by phone, but she hasn't been advised that Elspeth has died (apparently Elspeth told her that she'd asked her solicitor to notify certain people, including my mum, on her death).
She would love to know if Elspeth is still alive - perhaps in a care home - or whether she has passed away. I've looked through the Rydal Penrhos newsletters available online and the only reference to Elspeth I can find is in the 2013 newsletter.
If you would have information about Elspeth that I could pass on to my mother (Evelyn Loudon), I would very much appreciate it - Julia Loudon.
He may have been in school for around 3 years. We have discovered an A Jones who attended between 1989 and 1991. Is this him? Would he like to reconnect?
The last entry on our honours boards (as you can see) was made in 1973.
We would love to remedy this and fill in the gaps from 1973 up to the present day… this is a big ask BUT we know with your help we can do this.
And so we would like any alumni who have won National, International, County or University honours since this last entry 48 years ago to get in touch and fill us in on the details so that we might update our records and create new boards to join the above in the pavilion.
